A mascot, a menu, and digital content worthy of slowing down for. Extending Oleo Coffee's beloved identity through brand and menu design within Kansas City.
The Brief
Oleo Coffee already had a strong brand identity and a loyal customer base in Kansas City. What they needed were more touchpoints of personality and improved legibility across their menus.
The brand expansion I designed did just that.
Meet Ollie
Meet Ollie, the snail who carries the Oleo "O" on his shell. He's charming, instantly recognizable, and the inspiration behind the cafe's go-to saying: "Go Slow on Oleo." A tongue-in-cheek sentiment for a place that primarily serves caffeine.
The best part about Ollie is that he's infinitely expandable. Give him a new expression, a new accessory, and he becomes a different version of himself without ever becoming someone else. That's what makes him a timeless, inseparable part of the Oleo identity.
The Menu
Custom illustrations, a simple color story, and a menu that elevates the cafe's personality. It leans into Oleo's vintage personality without overselling it. Every section has a job to do and does it well. Copy written by the owner.
Flip Through It
Digital Content
No stock images or gimmicky reels. Just Oleo, with a point of view its customers recognize and interact with because they can tell it's genuine.
The Outcome
Oleo has preserved everything strong about its identity while elevating the parts that didn't quite pull their full weight. The result feels cohesive and intentional, like every detail was purposely placed. We took something that was already good and simply made it great.
Working with Claire has allowed us to bring to life several ideas and concepts that would otherwise still just be thoughts in a notepad.
